Decisions made by the Media Council of Bermuda will be listed here. The decisions will be sent to the relevant parties and also distributed to the media, usually under an embargo. Where a complaint is upheld, the media outlet complained against is obliged to print/broadcast/post the decision in full.

Digicel (Bermuda) vs TNN

On December 15, 2018, the Media Council Board reviewed a complaint by Digicel (Bermuda) against TNN. Digicel alleges that an article appearing on TNN’s Facebook page dated 25 August 2018 breached Clauses 3 (A), 3 (C) and 4 of the Code of Practice.

Dexter Smith/The Royal Gazette vs BermudaReal

On December 15, 2018, the Media Council Board reviewed a complaint by Dexter Smith and The Royal Gazette against BermudaReal. The Complainants allege that an article appearing on BermudaReal’s website dated 15 June 2018 breached Clauses 6, 12, and 13 of the Code of Practice.

Kentucky Fried Chicken (Bermuda) Ltd vs The Bermuda Industrial Union

On May 28, 2012, the Media Council of Bermuda reviewed a complaint by Kentucky Fried Chicken (Bermuda) Ltd. against the Bermuda Industrial Union as publisher of the Workers Voice. KFC alleges that an article appearing in the Workers Voice dated 30 January 2012 was incorrect and in breach of Clause 3 of the Code of Practice.

Bermuda Cricket Board vs The Royal Gazette Limited

On 14th December 2011 the Media Council reviewed a complaint submitted by the Bermuda Cricket Board (BCB).  The complaint concerned three articles published in the Sport section of The Royal Gazette (RG) on 10th, 16th and 17th November 2011.  The BCB alleges that The Royal Gazette breached clauses 3A, 3B and 3C of the Code of Practice which concern accuracy.
